... Yeah. Course it is.

[ he puffs out his chest and nods a little with that "i've just decided this and i'm not entirely confident about it yet" kind of bravado. ]

Oh. Jesus.

[He leans in, shifting to rest his forehead against David's shoulder. It's the gentlest melodramatic theatrics ever.]

Now I feel underprepared.

[ he laughs quietly and puts a hand on the back of jeff's head. ]

What would you've done differently?

Nothing. But I could've psyched myself up beforehand, right?

[hardlydead]

To do what? Exactly what we've been doing?

[ here have some pats on the back, that'll help. ]

[Well, he doesn't mind them.]

Yeah. Guess I should be glad I don't have a place to clean up.

[ there, one hand on jeff's head one on his back, such affection for this ridiculous anxiety riddled man. ]

What would you do different if we were at your place?

[He's mostly just being silly, because approaching whatever this is with any more gravity feels like it would be insane.

At the same time? The touch really does help.]

I'm a decent cook. You got any allergies?

[ he shakes his head with a soft noise to say no. ]

Lead-lined stomach at that.

Dinner and beer, then.

[He kisses David's neck once.]

Maybe Rocket League. Who knows.

[ he tilts his head to encourage a lil more of that. ]

I wouldn't trust me with a game, might break your controller.

They're cheap online.

[Dismissive. He does take that cue, though, sweeping a soft line up the slope of his throat.]

[ oh. that really is super distracting. it takes david an extra moment or two to notice jeff said anything. ]

Dinner and beer and Rocket League then. Sounds nice.

[And then all the way back down, a cautious little scrape of teeth at the juncture of David's neck and shoulder.]

What're we doing at your place?

[hardlydead]

[ well that gets a noise in response that david tries to hide behind clearing his throat. extremely rude. ]

Honestly? [ he laughs a little ] Probably would've tried to get you into bed by now.

[ like why else would he invite someone to his place anyway? ]

[David will probably feel more than hear the surprised little snort.]

On the second date, huh.

Yeah?

[ he is very much Not A Romantic sorry jeff ]

[outerfringe]

[He doesn't seem Bothered. Kind of amused, if anything, and he hopes that comes through when he nips at that same spot on his neck.]

Date or a hookup?

[hardlydead]

[ his breath catches at that nip ]

It can't be both?

[ david frowns a little, thinking. ]

I'm a shit cook, I'd take you out for dinner. So if we were at my place...

[He is extremely aware of that little hitch of breath. He doesn't want to risk leaving a mark, so he shifts just enough to pay equal attention to the other side of David's throat.]

No board games to play, then.

[hardlydead]

[ he laughs like the idea of having board games in his flat is funny ]

[Jeff leans up then, kisses that laugh to silence with a bit of an abruptness.]

Then I'll bring you a couple.

[He'd been lonely, sure, but David's loneliness feels - worse.]

[hardlydead]

[ the kiss surprises him, does indeed make him go silent, and he takes a moment before he replies. ]

I promise not to spill beer on them.

[outerfringe]

[Jeff goes silent in turn, his brow furrowing slightly even as he remains basically inches from David's face. Finally, he'll mumble-]

Pretty sure I already have.

[hardlydead]

[ he snorts and it turns into a full laugh as he looks back at jeff. ]
